BACKGROUND WE HAVE DESIGNED THE FULL DUBLIN
LUAS NETWORK TO WORK IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE LUAS CITY ORBITAL ROUTING. WE BELIEVE THE NETWORK TO BE AN EFFICIENT, BENEFICIAL
AND COST EFFECTIVE SOLUTION TO THE TRANSPORT NEEDS OF USERS AND BUSINESSES ALIKE. WHY HAVE WE
DESIGNED THIS NETWORK? WELL QUITE SIMPLY WE HAVE IDENTIFIED A NUMBER OF MAJOR FLAWS IN THE PRESENT THINKING BEHIND PUBLIC
TRANSPORT PLANNING. FOR EXAMPLE, (AND WE HAVE MENTIONED THIS MANY TIMES IN THE PAST), THE PRESENT
PLANNING OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT IS BASED ON THE RADIAL EFFECT. THAT IS, ALL FORMS OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT COMES FROM THE OUTER SUBURBS
TO THE CITY CENTRE LIKE THE SPOKES ON A WHEEL. IN LAY-PERSON'S TERMS THERE IS NO "JOINED-UP THINKING". OUR PLAN
IS BASED ON AN ORBITAL OR CIRCULAR SYSTEM. AS CAN BE SEEN FROM THE MAP ABOVE, OUR "STEM" TYPE ROUTES (E.G. LUCAN
TO BALDONNEL OR TO BLANCHARDSTOWN OR THE CITY CENTRE) CAN CATER FOR TRANSPORTING PEOPLE TO VIRTUALLY ALL AREAS OF DUBLIN AND
WHEN NEARING THE CITY CENTRE IT CAN USE THE RED OR THE BLUE
LINE TO VISIT THE CITY BUT ALSO TO CONNECT TO OTHER SUBURBS, TRAIN STATIONS, DART AND SO ON.
ANY PLAN MUST BE DESIGNED TO SUIT THE USER WITH A DIRECT AS POSSIBLE ROUTE TO THEIR DESTINATION, BEARING IN
MIND THAT THE SYSTEM MUST ALLOW FOR EASY CONNECTIONS TO THAT DESTINATION. AFTER CAREFULLY EXAMINING THE LAYOUT OF DUBLIN,
THE EXISTING BUS AND RAIL FACILITIES, THE LAND USE POTENTIAL AND THE GROWTH NOW AND FUTURE GROWTH POTENTIAL OF THE GREATER
DUBLIN AREA, WE CAME UP WITH THIS NETWORK PLAN THAT WILL CATER FOR FUTURE GROWTH OR EVEN RETRACTION OF THE POPULATION AND
THAT IS ALSO, WE BELIEVE, AN EFFICIENT AND COST EFFECTIVE WAY TO THE SOLUTION OF TRANSPORT IN DUBLIN. IF YOU LOOK AGAIN AT
THE MAP YOU WILL SEE THAT THE LUAS CITY ORBITAL IS THE IDEAL SOLUTION AND HAS AN EVEN GREATER ADVANTAGE IN THAT IT ALLOWS
THE FULL LUAS NETWORK FOR THE CAPITAL TO ACCESS ALL AREAS OF THE CENTRE WITH MINIMUM STREET DISRUPTION.
COMPATABILITY OF TRANSPORT SERVICES IT IS IMPORTANT,
AT THIS POINT, TO MENTION THAT WE ALSO ENVISAGE THAT ALL TRASPORT SERVICES MUST BE COMPATIBLE IN PROVIDING AN INTEGRATED TRANSPORT

WE SEE THE USE OF THE BUS AS AN EASY MODE TO MAXIMIZE ITS POTENTIAL IF THE BUS CORRIDORS ARE FULLY COMPLETED AND IMPLEMENTING
OUR SYSTEM OF 'THE QUAY BUS CONTRA-FLOW' BEING USED AS THE WORK-HORSE OF THE WHOLE BUS TRANSPORT SYSTEM. ITS FLEXIBILITY IS
ITS KEY COMPONENT IN ALLOWING THE BUS TO FEED ALL OTHER MODES OF TRANSPORT AND TO COMPLIMENT OTHER SYSTEMS OF TRANSPORT LIKE
RAIL, LUAS AND DART.

THE POTENTIAL OF CITY RAIL CAN ALSO BE EASILY MAXIMIZED WITH OUR 'THREE-LINKED' MULTI-PURPOSE RAIL NETWORK (A-B-C).A IS THE THREE MILE LINK FORM THE KILDARE LINE TO ADAMSTOWN TO THE
SLIGO LINE AT LEIXLIP.B IS THE HALF-MILE RAIL
LINK FROM THE BACK OF CONNOLLY RAIL STATION TO THE NEW DOCKLANDS STATION. C
IS THE RAIL LINK FROM THE CLONSILLA LINE TO THE NORTHERN LINE VIA THE AIRPORT. THIS IS ESSENTIAL FOR ANY FUTURE RAIL EXTENSIONS
AND EXPANSIONS.
LUAS
IS THE 'IDEAL' SOLUTION FOR DUBLIN AS IT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO TAKE USERS DIRECT TO ALL AREAS IN AND AROUND THE CITY CENTR,
AS CAN BE SEEN ON THE ABOVE MAP.
SO IT BECOMES OBVIOUS THAT COMPATABILITY IS THE KEY IF THE PUBLIC TRANSPORT
NEEDS OF OUR USERS ARE TO BE FULFILLED.
FULL LUAS NETWORK COMPRISING ROUTES A - B - C - D (AS PER MAP DETAILS)
ROUTE A: THIS IS THE LUCAN AND BLANCHARDSTOWN LINE WHICH GOES PAST HEUSTON
ALONGSIDE THE MAIN LINE RAIL ON CON COLBERT ROAD, UP THE BACK OF BALLYFERMOT INTO LIFFEY VALLEY AND ON TO LUCAN WITH A 'BRANCH'
LINE TO BLANCHARDSTOWN.
ROUTE B: THIS WILL RUN ALONG THE PRESENTLY DISUSED BROADSTONE LINE
AND ON TO CABRA, FINGLAS AND 'BRANCHING' TO BALLYMUN.
ROUTE C: THIS WILL PASS THROUGH THE PORT TUNNEL
TO THE AIRPORT, WITH 'BRANCH' LINES TO CLONSHAUGH AND DART/MAINLINE RAIL.
ROUTE D: THIS WILL RUN ALONG
BAGGOT STREET TO DUNDRUM, WITH A 'BRANCH' LINE TO TALLAGHT. INITIALLY THIS WILL RUN IN/OUT VIA THE GREEN
LINE.
TRAM MOVEMENT TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF WHAT WE ARE PROPOSING,
TAKE AN EXAMPLE OF THE LUCAN/BLANCHARDSTOWN LINE. THE TRAM, WHEN SHOWING "A1", WILL MEAN THAT THE TRAM COMING INTO
THE CITY CENTRE FROM LUCAN WILL GO CLOCKWISE AROUND THE LUAS CITY ORBITAL. AND WHEN THE TRAM IS SHOWING "A2" COMING
FROM LUCAN, THIS WILL MEAN THAT THE TRAM WILL GO ANTI-CLOCKWISE AROUND THE LUAS CITY ORBITAL. WHILST THIS MAY SOUND CONFUSING
AT FIRST, THE BENEFITS WILL MEAN YOU HAVE CHOICES ON WHAT PART OF THE CITY YOU WISH TO GO. THIS CLOCKWISE AND ANTI-CLOCKWISE
USE OF THE TRAM MAKES THE TRAM MORE EFFICIENT BY USING THE SAME TRACK SPACE FOR TWO-DIRECTIONAL ROUTING. IT GIVES USERS A
SERVICE FROM MOST OF DUBLIN TO THE CITY BUT ALSO ALLOWING USERS TO INTERCHANGE AS REQUIRED DIRECTLY TO OTHER DESTINATIONS.
THIS PLAN IS DESIGNED TO BE FULLY INTEGRATED WITH ALL OTHER MODES OF TRANSPORT
