RAIL HUB AND CLIMATE CHANGE TRANSPORT

DUBLIN HAS ONE VERY IMPORTANT RAIL HUB AND, IF FULLY UTILIZED, WOULD BE AS GOOD IF NOT BETTER THAN MOST HUBS ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD.

THIS RAIL HUB IS IN THE *DOCKLANDS* AND TO MAKE IT FULLY USABLE, A SHORT RAIL LINK IS NEEDED FROM THE BACK OF CONNOLLY RAIL STATION TO THE DOCKLAND STATION. THERE IS SPACE AVAILABLE FOR THIS LINK AND IT IS ONLY ONE KILOMETRE LONG. THIS LINK IS KNOWN AS 'THE MISSING RAIL LINK'. THREE RAIL LINES COME INTO CONNOLLY STATION FROM THE NORTHSIDE; THE SAME THREE LINES ALSO GO INTO THE DOCKLANDS STATION, SO JUST REQUIRING THE SHORT MISSING RAIL LINK TO GIVE THEM CONTINUOUS MOVEMENT FOR MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY.



WHAT MAKES THIS HUB EVEN MORE EFFECTIVE IS THE LOCATION WHERE THE RAIL LINES CROSS EACH OTHER AT THE NORTH STRAND NEAR FAIRVIEW WHERE THEY ARE SEGREGATED BY GOING OVER EACH OTHER IN TUNNEL FORM, THUS GREATLY REDUCING TIME AND SIGNAL DELAYS. TO COMPLETE THE 'CIRCLE' AROUND DUBLIN, A LINK UP IS REQUIRED FROM DOCKLANDS TO BOOTERSTOWN.
