Graham Cleary (SIPTU REP)of the Vehicle Design Committee and his fellow committee members were in Scotland recently to check
out the new 'VT' tri-axle buses for Dublin Bus. The first pictures of this visit are shown exclusively on the 'Team Conyngham
Road Depot' website. Due to the demand on our Scottish colleagues, the buses will be sent for fitting out in Northern Ireland
painted in yellow. The finishing colours will be added by Alexanders.
Bottom pics on this page shows the latest bus to shortly join the Dublin Bus fleet, the ECOBUS. Mainly drawing its power
from batteries, this ECOBUS is being prepared for Dublin Bus by Wrights of Ballymena. This pilot project by Dublin Bus is
reckoned to be a sign of buses to come. A vastly reduced carbon footprint not only helps the environment but also saves money.
Still only in the preparation stages, more photos will become available nearer to the operational date, expected to be July.
Thanks to the Engineering department and SIPTU for exclusive access to these photos.
The photographs ,left and below, show the drivers cab area looking well with new digitalized speedometer reading and instrument
panel.
